PAY RANGE: $10.
50-$12.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Learn & Play Center Staff will be responsible for assisting in planning and implementing all curriculum and program activities in the Learn & Play center.
This individual guides the development of children, ensuring a safe, enriching and healthy environment.
This position works as part of a team to deliver professional customer service and builds relationship to create a welcoming environment.
The individual will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervise and lead children in the Learn & Play Center.
Help to plan, organize, and deliver activities and programs.
Demonstrate and teach activities.
Develop positive relationships with children, parents/caregivers, and co-workers.
Help cultivate a positive culture by modeling healthy relationships and open communication.
Lead the Learn & Play Center in creating a compassionate and nurturing environment.
Follow program standards in regards to safety, cleanliness, and age appropriate programming and interactions.
Know emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them.
Report specific problems or needs to supervisor or designated staff person.
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.
Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions
Previous experience in a child care or babysitting position
Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certification OR equivalent – prior to starting
Intro to Y’s Cause & Culture Online Course - prior to starting if hired
Training to be completed within the first 30 days and maintained afterwards
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, crouch, stoop, crawl, use their hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with arms and hands and lift up to ten pounds of weight.
Vision abilities required by this job includes close and distance vision.
Visual, auditory and verbal ability is required to communicate effectively with people and monitor property and activity.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
This position usually works in indoor and outdoor child care oriented environments, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces.
