Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
Establishes rapport and remains focused on student needs to maximize learning.
Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
Maintains a professional appearance as example to students.
Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed or listed in assigned position.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourages self-discipline and responsibility.
Creates a sense of belonging and welcoming environment for all students and staff.
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
Onsite work required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Possess either a valid Iowa Substitute License, Substitute Authorization, or Iowa Teaching License and be able to pass a criminal background check.
Must be adaptable, collaborative, and an effective problem-solver.
The following trainings are required prior to starting as a substitute teacher: Mandatory Reporter, Bloodborne Pathogens, Seclusion and Restraint: Chapter 103.
Compensation: $140 for daily assignments.
