The Senior Financial Reporting & Accounting Analyst is responsible for assisting with the quarterly financial statement close process, preparation and review of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements, analysis of quarterly financial results, and preparation and review of audited statutory financial statements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with quarterly financial statement close process across the Company.
Prepares and reviews various reconciliations as part of quarterly close process.
Prepares and reviews key financial statement analytics to understand and communicate quarterly financial results of the insurance entities.
Executes internal controls designed to mitigate risks associated with the financial reporting and close processes.
Collaborates with the accounting and cross-functional teams regarding the reporting processes and information required for quarterly/annual disclosures.
Contributes to process improvement initiatives for financial statement close and reporting process.
Prepares and/or reviews:
Quarterly/annual statutory financial statement filings for multiple insurance entities.
Annual audited statutory financial statements for multiple insurance entities.
Annual audited benefit plan financial statements.
Works directly with internal and external auditors on various reviews and audits.
Assists with ad hoc requests, special projects, and other duties related to financial reporting and analysis, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in accounting, finance or related field of study; plus five (5) years of progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Experience working with Sovos/Wings statutory reporting software.
Experience working with SAP S4/HANA preferred.
Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:
CPA preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the life and annuity insurance industry, including products issued, operating activities performed across the entity, and the regulatory environment.
Broad understanding of financial statement accounts of a life and annuity company, including investment and actuarial balances.
Technical knowledge of applicable statutory financial reporting rules and regulations.
Ability to successfully handle pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize work to meet tight quarter-end deadlines, ensuring all tasks are completed on time.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
